In January 2025, security researchers at Wiz discovered that DeepSeek had left an unauthenticated database publicly exposed¹ — containing over a million log entries of plaintext chat history, API keys, and sensitive business queries that users had sent to the AI. No password required. Anyone could query it directly from a browser.
That wasn't a sophisticated attack. It was a misconfiguration. And it's a useful reminder that no platform, however prominent, can guarantee zero incidents. The less your AI sees, the less there is to lose.
