One post is easy to manage in Ghost. Ten is fine. But once you're maintaining a content library — updating old posts, publishing new ones, keeping metadata clean — the admin work starts to outweigh the writing.
That's where AI can help. The problem is your AI assistant has no way to access your Ghost blog directly — it can't see your posts, make edits, or hit publish. It's a powerful tool that stops at the edge of your actual workflow.
MCP Express bridges that gap. It connects your Ghost blog to your AI assistant, giving it the ability to list, create, update, publish, and delete posts — all from a single conversation, without you touching the Ghost admin panel.
This tutorial walks you through setting up the integration and shows you what your workflow looks like once it's live.

How to Set Up Your Ghost CMS MCP Server with MCP Express
Here's how to get connected:
Step 1: Create Your MCP Express Account
Sign up at mcp-express.com and log in to your dashboard.
Step 2: Create a Ghost CMS MCP Server
In the dashboard, create a new server.

Give it a name and a description.

Then go to Tools → Add New Tools and select Ghost CMS.

You'll be prompted to enter your Ghost site's base URL and Admin API key to complete the connection.

Fill in the fields and click Next to proceed.
Step 3: Configure Allowed Actions
Choose which actions your AI is permitted to perform. For full blog management, enable: List, Get, Create, Update, Publish, and Delete posts.

You can restrict this to a smaller set if you prefer your AI to only read or draft — without the ability to publish or delete.
Finally, give your tool a clear name and description — this helps your AI understand what the tool does and when to use it.

Step 4: Connect Claude to MCP Express
In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors and click Add New Connector. Give it a name and set the URL to:
https://api.mcp-express.com/gateway/mcp
Claude will redirect you to MCP Express to complete the OAuth flow. Log in, grant access, and select the MCP server you just configured.
For a detailed walkthrough, see the guide on connecting MCP servers to AI via OAuth.
Once connected, you can manage your servers from any device where you're signed into Claude — laptop, phone, or tablet. No terminal app needed.
Step 5: Start Giving Your AI Commands
Once connected, your AI can interact with your Ghost blog in plain conversation. For example:
Creating content
"Can you create a new blog post in Ghost based on the notes that I have provided."

Here's the result:

Your AI handles the request end-to-end — no copy-pasting into the Ghost editor, no switching tabs. Just tell it what you want done, and it does it.
Reimagine Your Workflow
Ghost CMS on its own manages your publishing. But when you connect it to other tools through MCP Express, it becomes part of something larger — a workflow where your AI moves between your systems and handles the work that used to fall through the cracks.
Here are a few ways people are already using it:
- Ship a feature, then ask your AI to write the post
Connect GitHub alongside Ghost. When a new feature lands, ask your AI to read the latest commits, understand what changed, and draft a blog post explaining it in plain language. No developer briefing required — just point Claude at the commits and tell it what you need.
- Review articles against your own standards
Connect Nuclino or Confluence where you store your brand guidelines, tone of voice docs, and product information. Before publishing anything from your colleagues, ask your AI to review the draft against those guidelines and flag anything off-brand, factually inconsistent, or missing. Your style guide finally enforces itself.
- Keep your content library accurate over time
As your product evolves, old posts go stale. Connect your changelog or internal docs and ask your AI to cross-reference your Ghost posts against recent updates — surfacing anything that contradicts current information before a reader finds it first.
Your Blog Shouldn't Slow You Down
Publishing is supposed to be about ideas — not tab-switching, copy-pasting, and clicking through admin panels. The more time you spend managing your blog, the less time you spend writing for it.
The Ghost CMS integration on MCP Express closes that gap. Your AI assistant goes from being a writing tool you manually feed content into, to an active participant in your publishing workflow — one that can pull up posts, make edits, hit publish, and keep your content library tidy, all from a single conversation.
Set it up once. Then just talk to it.
If you're ready to get started, create your free account — no credit card required. Your first MCP server takes under 5 minutes to set up.
